Poland middle wrestlers send eight to state meet

After finishing the regular season 15-1 in dual matches, the Poland Middle School wrestling team has continued its success by qualifying eight wrestlers to the state tournament March 20-21.
Max Prizant, Jonathan Seitz, Johnny Berndt, Michael Audi, Bruno Spotleson (Holy Family) and Anthony Mancini each advanced to state competition. Bobby Murcko and Nick Rizzo will be alternates. The state tournament will be held at the Marion Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Bulldogs were dominant during the regular season, winning the South Range Holiday Tournament, the Waterloo Pool Tournament and taking second at the Boardman Super Duals and second (in Division II) at the EOWL Tournament.
At the EOWL event, Poland had three champions, including Bobby Murcko (80 pounds), Michael Audi (142) and Nick Rizzo (205). Nick Bilas (245) was second while Max Prizant (92), David Slepski (116) and Johnny Berndt (122) took third.
Anthony Mancini (150) and Abe Kassem (172) were fifth, with Christian Nemeth (86) taking sixth.
