Middle school students in the Boardman United Methodist Church assembled and sold 150 submarine sandwiches during Super Bowl weekend to help pay for a weekend trip to the Mahoning Valley United Methodist District Youth Retreat at Camp Asbury in Hiram.
Thirteen members of the Boardman group were led by Jeff Pellin to the district retreat that carried the “Let Your Light Shine” theme. They were one of 12 United Methodists churches to participate. The goal of the weekend was to enhance local youth ministries, build connections with people, foster personal relationships with Christ and have fun doing it.
Future plans for the youth group include service projects with Canton Calvary Mission Service and Angels for Animals and a horseback riding and canoe trip.
For information on the United Methodist youth group, call Pellin at 330-758-4527.
