Mayor touts city’s economic successes

The city’s recent economic successes didn’t occur by “accident,” Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams said.

It wasn’t “because we were lucky,” he said. “They didn’t happen because we deserve to catch a break in Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. They happened because we planned and worked.”

Speaking today at the Regional Chamber’s Good Morning, Youngstown event at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hall, Williams touted the city’s recent economic triumphs.

At the top of the list is the $650 million expansion project planned by V&M Star, which manufactures steamless pipes for the gas and oil industries.
