YSU diver Hill is in zone meet

Youngstown State freshman diver Casey Hill will compete at the Zone C Diving Championships which start on Friday at Purdue’s Boilermaker Aquatics Center in West Lafayette, Ind.
Hill, from Bethlehem, Pa., is the first YSU diver to compete at the Zone meet since Kalyn Leveto in 2005.
The Zone meet is a qualifier for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships which are also being held at Purdue on March 18-20. Zone C, which features schools from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan, will qualify nine women and nine men to the NCAA Championships.
Hill has had a solid freshman campaign for the Penguins. At the Horizon League Championships, she finished fourth in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. In the finals of the 3-meter she scored 252.85 points while in the 1-meter she scored 263.65.
Her best scores of the year came during the YSU Invitational which concluded the regular season. Hill posted a career-best score of 284.45 in the 1-meter and 293.25 in the 3 meters.
Hill will compete in the 1-meter event on Friday and the 3-meter event is Saturday.

Jacke Healey’s two-run home run was YSU’s only runs of the game in an 8-2 loss at Lipscomb on Wednesday.
Eric Marzec added three hits for YSU, and Joe Iacobucci reached in all four of his plate appearances. Corey Vukovic, Alex Frey and Bill Turosky combined to hold the Bisons without an earned run for the final four innings.
Tyler Wilson had three hits and scored three times for Lipscomb. Bisons head coach Jeff Forehand earned his 300th career victory.
Lipscomb went ahead 2-0 in the first inning when Zach Messer drove in two runs on a single off starter Cody Dearth. Healey’s two-run bomb with two outs in the third tied the score, but the Bisons regained the lead with two runs in the bottom half.
The Bisons scored three times in the fourth and once in the sixth. Three of their eight runs were unearned as YSU committed four errors. The Penguins also stranded 13 runners.
On Tuesday, Anthony Porter drove in his fourth run in the top of the ninth inning, and Greg Dissinger hit a grand slam in the eighth to lift YSU to a 9-8 win at Lipscomb.
Porter hit a three-run homer in the first inning to give the Penguins an early lead, but YSU had to rally from an 8-4 deficit in the final two innings.
Marzec earned his first win, holding the Bisons scoreless in two innings of relief. Senior Alex Oles allowed just one earned run in his five innings.
The Penguins begin a three-game series with Walsh on Friday in Chillicothe.
