Pay first-half Mahoning Co. property taxes by Friday or face penalty

YOUNGSTOWN — Friday is the last date for payment of first half of 2009 real estate taxes without penalty, Mahoning County Treasurer Lisa Antonini said.

Any payment that is mailed with a postmark of March 12 will be considered on time.

By law, a 10-percent penalty will be assessed if payments are received after March 12, Antonini said. It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to secure a tax bill. Failure to receive a tax bill will not void the penalty for the late payment.
