Woman charged in crash waives preliminary hearing

WARREN

The felony charge filed against a Bristol Township woman who police say drove her car into C&L Tattoo Studio, 4807 Mahoning Ave., on Feb. 24 has been bound over to a Trumbull County grand jury.

Tabari R. Vandervort, 37, of state Route 45, waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court on a vandalism charge. Judge Terry Ivanchak continued her bond at $7,000.

If convicted of vandalism, she could get up to 18 months in prison.

Vandervort also faces misdemeanor charges of criminal damaging and endangering and DUI and is scheduled to return to Warren Municipal Court on those charges June 1.

Police said Vandervort drove a Grand Am from Marshall Avenue into the side entrance of the business at a high rate of speed, then collided with the side of a car parked in the front parking lot.

She then drove the car into the business, backed up and back into the business a second time. The car came to rest after hitting the front corner of the business, police said.

Vandervort was treated at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, but no other injuries were reported.
