PSU-Fayette chancellor dies

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — The chancellor of a Penn State University satellite campus in southwestern Pennsylvania has died unexpectedly.

Penn State-Fayette officials say Emmanuel Osagie died Tuesday from complications due to an unspecified illness.

Osagie’s death was announced on the school’s Web site today and confirmed by the public relations department.

Osagie, a native of Nigeria, had been chancellor of the campus about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh, since February 2007. School officials did not release his age or other information about his illness.

Penn State President Graham Spanier calls Osagie a “very dedicated and dynamic champion.”
