Open auditions for Cedar Point

Cedar Point will have a casting call Friday for entertainers and technicians to fill more than 100 positions with the park’s summer’s shows. Open auditions and interviews will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the park’s Live Entertainment office.

Positions include performers (singers, dancers, musicians), technicians, Peanuts characters and karaoke hosts and DJs. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by May. Each audition piece should be limited to 16-32 bars. Applicants should select upbeat music that illustrates their personality and ability to interact with audience members. Drew Carey videos showcase hometown

CLEVELAND

“The Price Is Right” host Drew Carey showcases his hometown of Cleveland in an upcoming series of online videos suggesting remedies to the city’s problems.

The comedian argues for less government, more competition and fewer taxes to revitalize Cleveland in 10-minute segments that are scheduled to begin appearing next week on the Web site reason.tv. It’s affiliated with the Reason Foundation, a nonpartisan, libertarian-leaning organization of which Carey is a board member.

Carey says he loves Cleveland and says the city is going through “tough times” with a troubled economy, troubled schools and ongoing population losses.

Brooke Burke joins Bergeron on ‘DWTS’

NEW YORK

Former “Dancing With the Stars” winner Brooke Burke will be Tom Bergeron’s new partner when the series starts March 22. She’ll replace Samantha Harris as co-host. Bergeron made the announcement Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

As a contestant, Burke won in November 2008. She has hosted TV shows including CBS’ “Rock Star” and E!’s “Wild On.”

Contestants this season include former “Baywatch” babe Pamela Anderson, reality star Kate Gosselin, astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Olympics figure skating gold medalist Evan Lysacek.

Also competing will be reality TV personality Jake Pavelka, sportscaster Erin Andrews, singer Nicole Scherzinger, football star Chad Ochocinco and actors Shannen Doherty, Aiden Turner and Niecy Nash.
