ACS schedules Cattle Baron's Ball

The American Cancer Society will host it’s 4th annual Cattle Baron’s Ball March 27 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St.

The celebration will begin with a VIP reception at 6 p.m., where Youngstown Municipal Judge Elizabeth Kobly, Gregg Strollo and Dr. Rashad El-Dabh will be honored for their unending commitment to the society and their mission to eliminate cancer. The ball will get under way at 7.

The theme for this year’s ball is Denim and Diamonds, and those attending will be encouraged to wear attire of their choice. Clothing can range from jeans and western gear to elegant formal attire.

Throughout the evening there will be gourmet food stations, live music by John Reese and the Back Beat Band, auctions and casino-style gambling for entertainment purposes only (no cash winnings will be awarded). Among the items to be auctioned will be 30 bottles of premium wines donated by Bruce and Rori Zoldan.

The major sponsor for the evening is Primus Medical. Other high-level sponsors are Butler Wick, The Cafaro Co., Farmers National Bank, Farmers Trust Co. and Humility of Mary Health Partners.

Among those contributing monetary or in-kind donations of items for the event are Alberini’s Restaurant; Dr. Dean Ball, Dr. Robert Brodell, First Place Bank, Jeff Chrystal’s Catering, Hitchcock X-Ray, Leo’s Ristorant , Lewis Corporation, Laura and Michael Mariano, Niles Iron and Metal Company, the Post and Solomon families, Thom Duma Fine Jewelers/Mikki Moto Pearls, Trumbull Industries and Vernon’s Caf .

Harriet Cohen is chairwoman of the Divas and Gentlemen’s committee. The planning committee includes Bridget Antonelli, Dr. Ball, Susan Blecher, Pat Butto, Lori DiTunno, Mary Jo Fagert, Kathy Garritano, Marlene and Merv Hollander, Anna Mineo Howell, Lillie Johnson, Ken Miller, Claudia Moss, Toni Solarz, Dave Terpek, Kathie Weinberg, Sandy and Sam Zians, and Rori Zoldan.

Tickets to the VIP reception and the ball are $150 per person. The donation to attend the ball only is $100.
