A Lansing Avenue man was shot, and his friend was arrested on a charge of obstructing official business Friday evening.

Dustin M. Greenwalt, 23, was transported by a friend to St. Elizabeth Health Center after suffering gunshot wounds to the pelvic area. A police report said he was in stable condition. Police were called to North Maryland Avenue, just north of Oakwood Avenue, on the city’s West Side, on a report of several gunshots fired.

Witnesses said two cars were next to each other, their occupants talking, when a man walked between the cars, and shots were fired.

About 15 minutes later, police got a call from the hospital about a gunshot victim. Devin B. Byers, 22, of Lansdowne Boulevard, told police that his friend, Greenwalt, was shot on the city’s South Side.

Byers was charged with obstructing official business and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
