For the first time in over 10 years, the Poland girls basketball team walked away as 2010 AAC Freshman Tournament champions and 11-0 for the season.
“I am so proud of what these girls have done this season,” said head coach Alex Rokicki.
The Poland team consisted of just six players — Rachel Robertson, Kasie Serich, Liz Suess, Meredith Tesone, Meredith Testa and Marissa Trevis.
Despite logging many minutes without the luxury of a bench full of substitutes, everyone on the team contributed to the successful season with rebounds, steals and assists and had great free throw percentages.
Serich was the team-leading scorer for the season.
Rokicki said the tournament championship game against Struthers was close and exciting and the team executed plays well and couldn’t have played better defense.
“The girls earned their perfect season and it’s something they will always remember,” Rokicki said.
