The fifth-grade class at Holy Family School recently completed the D.A.R.E. program.

The program teaches children the harmful effects of alcohol, drugs and tobacco. It also teaches the children how to be a good friend, to not become involved with the harmful substances and how to live a healthy life.

The program was taught by Officer Tom Johnston (“Officer TJ”), who has been coming to the school for years to teach the program.

Officer TJ and Police Chief Brian Goodin held a special graduation ceremony upon completion of the program.

Several children were asked to read their essays about what they learned from the program.

The children also received certificates of completion and D.A.R.E. T-shirts.
