‘Skate for the Heart’ at Covelli

YOUNGSTOWN

Canadian figure skater Joannie Rochette, winner of a bronze medal at the Winter Olympic games in Vancouver last month, will be among the cast of “Skate for the Heart,” which will come to Covelli Centre in October and will be taped for national broadcast in January.

She will be joined by 2006 Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen and the a cappella group Straight No Chaser at “Skate for the Heart.”

The event is being presented by Youngstown State University and the Mahoning Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The live show will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 10 at Covelli Centre and is sponsored by the Phantoms Hockey Organization, the Ice Zone and WFMJ. The taped show will air from 4-6 p.m. Jan. 16 on NBC.

The cast also will include 2006 Olympic silver medalist Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto; 2010 Olympic silver medalists Meryl Davis and Charlie White; U.S. National Champions Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett; and 2007 silver medalist Ryan Bradley.

It will be hosted by Olympic gold medalist Peggy Fleming.

Straight No Chaser will perform eight hits.

Tickets are $36.50, $51.50, $69.50 and $89.50 (additional fees may be applicable) and will go on sale at 10 a.m. March 19.
