Western, Pa. man charged in Honduran man's stabbing death

CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police say they’ve charged a man in the stabbing death of a Honduran man who was living in suburban Pittsburgh.

Police today charged 31-year-old Jose Alberto Herrera-Luciano, of Canonsburg, with homicide in the death of 26-year-old Jose Alexi Medina.

Medina’s body was discovered Sunday near railroad tracks in Canonsburg, where he’d been living. That’s about 15 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Police say a witness said he was walking with Luciano-Herrera and Medina on Feb. 26 when Luciano-Herrera grabbed Medina from behind, stabbed him in the torso and slashed his throat.

The witness said Luciano-Herrera then put the knife to his throat and warned him to keep quiet.

Investigators said Medina was working to support his family in Central America.
