CLUB CALENDAR | Local organizations plan meetings


ATHLETIC GROUPS

McDonald Baseball Association will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

McDonald Sideliners will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the high school.

AUXILIARIES

St. Elizabeth Health Center Auxiliary will meet at noon Monday in the private dining room. Rita Havas, manager of volunteers, will conduct a safety training and update on HMHP.

CLASSES

Chaney High School January and June Classes of 1948 will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Molly’s Restaurant, 1309 Salt Springs Road. All alumni are invited

North High School Class of 1958 will meet for breakfast at 11 a.m. Monday at Bedford Trails in Lowellville. Guests are welcome.

Struthers High School Alumni are invited to help plan an all-alumni event for July by attending a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Struthers Presbyterian Church, 110 Poland Ave., Struthers. Planning meetings are at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the church. For more information call (330) 788-9736.

GUILDS

Niles Chapter of the Americn Sewing Guild has scheduled the following group meetings: Evening Cut Ups at 7 p.m. Monday at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5253 W. Webb St., Austintown, for a sewing machine organizer demonstration; Material Girls at 6 p.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 490 N. High St., Cortland, for a folded flower demonstration; Designing Women at Domestic Sewing, 2011 Youngstown S.E., Warren, at 10 a.m. March 12 for a hooping review.

Western Reserve Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Park in Canfield. The program will include continuation of the mystery shawl, a short presentation on processing alpaca wool, from shearing to knitting, and a hat exchange. Check your Cablegram for further details.

LIBRARY FRIENDS

Friends of Boardman Library will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the community room for a social. Esther Bertch, Barbara Huberty, Romaine Moore and Amy Sposato will be hostesses. At 10, Doc Richards will present a program on “Glenn Miller.” No reservations required. Guests and new members are welcome. Books, magazines and tapes are needed for the book cart and will be collected from 10 a.m. to noon the first and third Saturday of each month.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

Mount Carmel Society of St. Rose Church in Girard will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the lower church.

SERVICE CLUBS

McDonald Lions Club will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday on the second floor of the Retirement Center, 550 Ohio Ave.

Girard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Golf Dome, 1300 N. State Street.

SOCIETIES

Girard Historical Society, 1011 N. State St., Girard, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St. Presiding will be Roberta Lawrentz, president; Colette Chuey, vice president; Gail DePaul, secretary; and Patty Miller, treasurer.

Alzheimer Assistance and Referral Network has scheduled the following support group meetings: Monday, at St. John Orthodox Church, 322 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell at 7 p.m.; Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, at St. Charles Church, Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, at 7 p.m.: and March 13 at Christ Lutheran Church, corner of Sexton and Garfield, Struthers, at 10:30 a.m.
