Warren fire victim dies

WARREN — Jarvarie Crenshaw, the 4-year-old boy pulled unconscious from a house fire on Maryland Street Northeast Tuesday died Wednesday night in the burn unit of Akron Children’s Hospital.

The boy’s uncle, Mark Sheets, 22, who was also pulled unconscious from the house, remains in critical condition at the hospital.

The two were rescued by Warren firefighters from the 8:27 a.m. house fire. Three other family members, including Jarvarie’s mother, Brittany Sheets, 25, Jarvarie’s brother, JayQwon Crenshaw, 5, and Jarvarie’s grandmother, Sharon Albert, 38, escaped from the house and suffered lesser injuries.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office said Jarvarie died at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.

Ken Nussle, Warren fire chief, said there was relatively little fire when crews arrived at the house, but the second floor bedroom area was filled with black smoke.

The fire department is still investigating the cause of the fire but has determined that the fire started in an upstairs bedroom around a mattress. Investigators are still trying to determine who was sleeping in that bed.

Jarvarie and Mark Sheets were found separately in two other bedrooms, Nussle said.
