Thanks for the feedback!

Dozens of you called, e-mailed and posted comments about our new look Wednesday on the Internet. Even though change can be tough, we were impressed with the scope of the comments and suggestions. As impressive were the compliments.

“I love the bigger print!” one reader called to say. “I am 81 years old, and I go for the crossword puzzle right away. I can see the numbers better!”

One self-described 50-year subscriber called to say she loved the paper: “I feel like I’m reading a newspaper in a different city because it is so modern and up to date.”

Reader suggestions included bolder type for sports agate and not just putting the husband’s name in bold in the marriage licenses.

Many readers were concerned that Funky Winkerbean was missing (he’s in the classified section along with Judge Parker, Cathy and B.C.), and one reader couldn’t find the daily Scripture passage (it moved to the left side of the first editorial page). The bridge-column move to the weather page also caused some confusion.

Then, of course, there’s the whole missing-Blondie snafu. See above.

While the majority of readers were highly complimentary, a few called to voice their displeasure with the new format, and we are going to work hard every day to win them over.

Circus comes to town

In case you missed the elephant parade or the elephant protest, here’s a reminder that the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is in town at the Covelli Centre today through Sunday. Tickets range from $12 to $70 and tonight’s show starts at 7.

According to a circus news release: “The fun begins an hour before the show with Ringling Bros. Clown College at the All Access Pre-show free with your ticket.” So we can manage a clown college but no Youngstown Early College, eh? Hmmm...

Oh! You wanted the WINNING numbers?

The correct Ohio Pick 3 Lottery numbers for Tuesday were: Day, 537; Night, 396. The Pick 3 day number was incorrect on Page A2 of Wednesday’s editions of The Vindicator.

Calling all brilliant babies

It’s never too early to start educating our children. This morning at the Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County, parents can get a jump on their children’s education by attending “Baby Brilliant: Time for Babies and Books.” At 9:30 a.m., activities will be geared for children ages 6-12 months. At 10:30 a.m., events will be for children 13-23 months.
