Sharon man dies in early-morning fire

SHARON, Pa.

A Stanton Street man, Kim Daugherty, believed to be in his 50s, died in an early Wednesday fire at his home.

His mother, who also lived at 1236 Stanton, was treated at Sharon Regional Hospital for smoke inhalation, according to Sharon firefighters.

The fire, which started in and was confined to an upstairs bedroom, was reported by a neighbor at 6:48 a.m. The victim was upstairs, and his mother was on the first floor when the blaze occurred.

There was smoke and water damage throughout the home.

Firefighters said the state fire marshal was called in to determine the cause.

No damage estimate was available Wednesday.

Sharon firefighters were aided by units from the Farrell, Pa., Fire Department.
