Mahoning Lodge 339 renamed

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Lodge 339 of B’nai B’rith has been renamed the Aaron Grossman Lodge 339 of B’nai B’rith.

Andrew Moyer, lodge president, said the lodge voted unanimously to change its name. Members felt this was the appropriate way to honor Grossman’s legacy and lifetime dedication to B’nai B’rith. He died in October 2009.

Grossman, affectionately known as “Mr. B’nai B’rith,” was a long-time leader of B’nai B’rith locally, nationally and internationally. He was active in many community organizations and received numerous awards and recognitions for his service, including the B’nai B’rith Guardian of the Menorah award.

He served for many years as the adviser to Sigmund A. Nisenson Jewish Teen Youth Group and served two terms as chairman of the International B’nai B’rith Youth Commission. He was a long-time board member of the B’nai B’rith International Board of Governors.
