Judge dismisses charges on Pa. teen hurt by cops

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A district judge has dismissed all charges against a teenage arts student who has accused three Pittsburgh police officers of wrongly beating him during his arrest.

Today’s decision came after officers testified for the first time against 18-year-old Jordan Miles, who had been charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest in the Jan. 12 confrontation.

The FBI is investigating the officers’ conduct, and Miles’ attorney says his client passed an FBI lie-detector test.

Police say they arrested Miles because they initially thought he had a weapon and was acting suspiciously.

The teenager contends the white officers attacked him because they assumed he was a troublemaker because he is black. Miles said he resisted the plainclothes officers only because he didn’t immediately realize why they grabbed him.
