Pa. man charged in shooting over basketball game
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia police have charged a suburban man in a double-shooting sparked by a dispute over a basketball game inside a crowded gym.
Mujahid Muhammad, 25, of Bala Cynwyd was charged today with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other charges in the shooting the previous evening at the World Gym in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police say the fight broke out around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday over the score of a pickup basketball game.
They say one man retrieved a gun from a car and started shooting. The shooter and four other men fled the scene.
Officials say the two unidentified victims are hospitalized in stable condition.
Police say 50 people were in the gym at the time of the shooting.
