Ohio man arrested for trying to bring drugs to inmate
COLUMBUS — A Columbus man is facing a felony charge after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers arrested him today for attempting to convey drugs to an inmate working on the Ohio State Fairgrounds.
The inmate from the Pickaway Correctional Institution was working on the fairgrounds as part of a community service detail operated by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
State troopers charged Eugene S. Christian, 24, with attempting to convey drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility, a third-degree felony.
Troopers and Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Investigators obtained information that Christian would be attempting to convey drugs to an inmate from PCI, during his work shift at the fairgrounds. Investigators seized about a half-pound of suspected marijuana.
Christian will be incarcerated in the Pickaway County Jail. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
