Peter Facinelli, better known to fans of the movies “Twilight” and “New Moon” as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, will visit Eastwood Mall from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Autographs and photos with Facinelli may be purchased for $25 and $40, respectively, with partial proceeds benefiting the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a charity that seeks a cure for childhood cancer.
Man escapes police
CAMPBELL
A man escaped into the woods after a police chase that started in Campbell and ended in Youngstown. Campbell police said an officer tried to pull over a man on Gladstone Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday for not using his turn signal, but he sped away. Campbell Police chased him into Youngstown and notified Youngstown police.
The man, driving a Ford Explorer that turned out to be stolen from Youngstown, turned on Wilson Avenue, then onto Ayers Street, then U.S. Route 422, then Himrod Avenue, finally stopping on Park Heights. Police lost him after he fled on foot into the woods at Lincoln Park.
The license plate on the Explorer turned out to be stolen from Niles, police said. Police also said they found a plastic bag with suspected marijuana in it in the console.
Benefit dinner

Holy Family Youth Ministry is sponsoring a benefit dinner for a township family whose home was destroyed in an explosion Feb. 13. Jan and Kayla Brahler, who are Holy Family parishioners, escaped unharmed from the Center Road home before it exploded.
The church’s youth ministry is sponsoring a benefit dinner for the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish Center, 2729 Center Road. Tickets are on sale after Masses and at the parish offices. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
The cost is $12.50 for adults and $8 for children 10 and younger. Children 5 and younger will be able to eat for free.
Weather-siren tests
HERMITAGE, Pa.
The fire department will conduct its monthly test of the weather-warning sirens Thursday. The test will include activation of the Clark, Farrell, Sharpsville, West Middlesex and Wheatland weather sirens at 10 a.m.
Lawyer going to jail
LISBON
Disbarred lawyer George Kafantaris will report to the Columbiana County jail at 7 p.m. Thursday to serve a contempt sentence for his behavior in a murder case. Judge C. Ashley Pike of Columbiana County Common Pleas Court ordered that Kafantaris serve the entire 20 days.
The former Warren lawyer was disbarred in 2009 for mishandling clients’ funds and other acts of misconduct.
Judge Pike’s order stemmed from Kafantaris’ behavior while he was representing Andrew Irwin, who was charged with murder in the stabbing of Emily Foreman over drugs in Liverpool Township in 2006, including saying that he had new information as the jury was returning with a guilty verdict.
Cemetery cleanup
YOUNGSTOWN
The annual cleanup of Tod Cemetery will take place March 15. All decorations, including solar lights, will be removed at that time. Anyone wishing to recover their decorations must do so before the 15th.
