3 Trumbull jail officers disciplined

WARREN

Three corrections officers were disciplined for their role in releasing the wrong inmate Friday from the Trumbull County jail.

Don Guarino, chief deputy for the sheriff’s office, said Matt McBride received three days off without pay, Tia Hasinakis received a written reprimand, and Cindy Coleman received a verbal reprimand.

McBride was the “rover” working that afternoon who brought the wrong inmate to the booking area from the cell area, Guarino said.

Hasinakis, who was working in the jail pod, pulled out the photo, personal belongings and paperwork for inmate Derrick D. Allen, not the intended inmate, Delshaun L. Allen, Guarino said.

Booking officer Cindy Coleman gave Hasinakis the correct information, but she failed to verify that the correct inmate was released, Guarino said.

Derrick D. Allen was released about 2:40 p.m. and returned to the jail at about 5:50 p.m. after the jail called him, Guarino said.
