Devin Ebanks added 15 points, Kevin Jones scored 14 and Darryl Bryant had 11 for West Virginia. The free fall continues for Georgetown (19-9, 9-8), which was ranked No. 7 three weeks ago and has lost four of five.

AUSTIN, Texas — Senior Damion James scored 24 points in his final home game for struggling Texas. Earlier in the day, Texas (23-7, 9-6 Big 12) became the first team since Indiana in 1980 to reach No. 1 and then later drop out of The Associated Press rankings. Texas started 17-0 to reach No. 1 for the first time in school history in January. Tony Crocker scored 24 points to lead Oklahoma (13-16, 4-11).

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Tina Charles had 18 points and eight rebounds to become top-ranked Connecticut’s career leader in both categories. Connecticut (30-0, 16-0), which reached 30 wins for the fifth straight season, can match the record of 70 consecutive wins set by the Huskies from 2001-2003 in the Big East tournament quarterfinals on Sunday. SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Erica Morrow scored 23 points, Syracuse’s efficient zone defense shut down West Virginia in the second half. West Virginia (26-4, 13-3 Big East) had won six straight.

WASHINGTON — Sugar Rodgers scored 24 points and Georgetown made a school-record 13 3-pointers. Monica McNutt scored 14 points and Latia McGee added 10 for the Hoyas (25-5, 13-3 Big East).

PITTSBURGH — Kelly McManmon scored 18 points and St. John’s won for the 11th time in 13 games and clinched a double-bye in the Big East tournament. Da’Shena Stevens added 17 points and 15 rebounds and Shenneika Smith had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Red Storm (24-5, 12-4), who reached 24 wins in a season for the first time in 26 years. St. Johns’ Nadirah McKenith had 14 assists, tying for the sixth-most in a game in school history. Brittaney Thomas had a career-high 27 points and Chelsea Cole added 11 points and 16 rebounds for Pitt (16-13, 5-11), which had won four of its previous five.
