Man escapes from Campbell police

CAMPBELL — A man escaped into woods after a police chase that started in Campbell and ended in Youngstown.

Campbell police said an officer tried to pull over a man on Gladstone Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday for not using his turn signal, but he sped away. Campbell Police chased him into Youngstown and notified Youngstown police.

The man, driving a Ford Explorer that turned out to be stolen from Youngstown, turned on Wilson Avenue, then onto Ayers Street, then U.S. Route 422, then Himrod Avenue, finally stopping on Park Heights. Police lost him after he fled on foot into woods at Lincoln Park.

The license plate on the Explorer turned out to be stolen from Niles, police said. Police also said they found a plastic bag with suspected marijuana in it in the console.
