Youngstown shooting
YOUNGSTOWN — Police responded to a drive-by shooting early Sunday. A 25-year-old and an 18-year-old told police they were driving on Julian Street, approaching East Indianola Avenue, at about 3:25 a.m. Sunday when a dark-colored car with one headlight approached, pulled up behind them and opened fire, striking the victim’s car three times.
The car then fled in an unknown direction; the victims headed downtown to report the incident to police.
Police went to Julian Street and located five spent shell casings in the street and found an abandoned car with two flat tires with three spent shell casings on it. They discovered that the car is registered to the 18-year-old.

Decoration retrieval
CANFIELD — The city requests that all Christmas decorations be retrieved from city cemeteries by March 15. Any decorations left after that date will be removed.
BRR For a Cure
LAKE MILTON — There is still time to register and take part in the inaugural American Cancer Society BRR For a Cure Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday at Craig Beach on the shores of Lake Milton, 16801 Mahoning Ave.
The event is for people willing to brave the elements of the water in the winter to help the cancer society. Registration is from 12:30 to 1:40 p.m., with the plunge scheduled for 2 p.m. Participants are asked to raise at least $25 before taking the plunge in the water.
EMT’s and other personnel from the Milton Township Fire Department will be in the water at all times to ensure a safe environment for the participants, said La Dawn Whitman, coordinator of the event
BRR for a Cure plunge packets are available at the ACS office in Canfield at 525 North Broad St. (state Route 46).

Women’s forum
COLUMBIANA – A women’s forum is being planned from 7 to 9 p.m. March 11 at Columbiana Women’s Club, 121 N. Main St. Topics for discussion will include: age-related issues and aging parents; using and understanding medications; grandparents, relatives and others in the role of parents; and replenishing yourself physically, mentally and spiritually. Hubbard seeks bands
The Tylee Park Restoration Committee is looking for bands interested in entertaining in the Gazebo at Tylee Park in downtown Hubbard this summer.
The committee would like to have Music in the Gazebo one weeknight each month in June, July and August.
