Arrest made in robbery where child left behind
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police in Philadelphia have made at least one arrest in the robbery of a jewelry story in which the thieves left behind a 4-year-old boy.
Police scheduled a news conference for this morning to discuss the robbery of the Platinum and Ice Jewelry store.
Police say a man and woman entered the store with the child around 3 p.m. Saturday. They asked to see some rings and then grabbed a tray of items valued at more than $100,000 and ran out.
Investigators say the couple dragged the child by the hand for 2 1/2 blocks before the clerk caught up with them. The man slashed the clerk’s face and neck and the couple then fled, abandoning the child.
It was not clear whether the boy is the couple’s child.
