Zero tolerance is a burden on residents of the city, not the thugs

Zero tolerance is a burden on residents of the city, not the thugs

I am a longtime resident of this fair city and a frustrated one as well.

This paper printed an editorial saying that it believes zero tolerance can help with the crime situation here, but I totally disagree. The majority of the basic thugs and urban terrorists are out in plain sight, selling dope, shooting up neighborhoods, terrorizing the good citizens here. This Navy vet, citizen and taxpayer wonders how pulling folks over for busted head/taillights, expired tags, too dark tinted windows is supposed to put a dent in crime.

How can these fascist cops and these wimpy leaders expect a fund-raising, pull-over-athon to put a dent in crime? The only dent is in our wallets, while theirs get fatter. Where does this money go? It sure doesn’t to repair those craters in the streets.

I never said I had the answer to solving this crime wave here, but how about some new cops to take down these new hoodlums?

One guy who sends letters to this paper a lot claimed the mayor is tearing down these slum houses. Really? Where? Not where I live on the East Side, and not on West Warren on the South Side where 11 slums extend from Hillman to Overland. Check this out yourself.

A local TV station said I should go to council meetings and ask to have my say from the floor. For what? These leaders aren’t interested in our voices. I still say this city is run by a monarchy, King Jay and his merry band of useless pirates. Anarchy and monarch.

I’ll never be satisfied with these squirt- gun techniques of crime fighting in a city getting ready to burn.
