Scrappers rally for a victory

Jordan Casas hit a one-out, two-run double in the sixth inning that provided the go-ahead run in the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ 5-4 win over the Batavia Muckdogs in a New York-Penn League game on Tuesday night.
The Scrappers trailed 4-1 entering the fifth inning, but Kevin Fontanez’s RBI double — scoring Casas, who reached on an infield single — got Mahoning Valley (6-6) within two runs.
Then in the sixth, Batavia pitched Kevin Siegrist walked Andrew Kinney and Brian Heere to lead off the inning, then hit Moises Montero with a pitch to load the bases.
After Daniel DeGeorge flied out to shallow right field, Siegrist uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Kinney to score.
Casas then doubled to left field to bring in the tying and winning runs.
Chase Burnette doubled twice for the Scrappers, and Casas and Fontanez had two hits apiece.
Batavia broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning on RBI doubles by Rainel Rosario and Yunier Castillo, and a run-scoring single by Nicholas Longmire.
Kirk Wetmore started for the Scrappers and allowed all four runs in four innings.
James Reichenbach (1-1) got the win with three innings of scoreless relief, and James Ehlert earned his first save with two scoreless innings.
