Sawed-off shotgun confiscated from teen
YOUNGSTOWN
Police arrested Darius Wilson, 18, of Hudson Avenue on charges of discharging a firearm in the city, possession of criminal tools and carrying a concealed weapon after witnesses told police they saw Wilson firing a shotgun in the 200 block of East Pasadena Avenue on the city’s South Side about 11 p.m. Monday.
Police caught up with Wilson at South and Dewey avenues and found he had a loaded, sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun tucked into his waistband.
He was kept in the Mahoning County jail pending arraignment.
Vacant house burns
NEW CASTLE, PA
Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze that did extensive damage to a vacant house at 1106 E. Washington Street.
The fire was discovered shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, and firefighters said flames and smoke were coming from a second-floor window when they arrived at the scene. The owner of the property told authorities that someone was in the process of moving into the house and electrical service had just been turned on Tuesday morning.
There were no injuries.
