Newton Falls reunion honors classmates

NEWTON FALLS

The Newton Falls Classmates and Friends 91st reunion was celebrated June 19 at DiVieste Banquet Room in Warren with 415 in attendance. Greeting the classmates were members of the class of 1960, Carol Rigby Carlton, Michaelle Kennedy Wilson, Ed Chopko Jr., Lynn Thomas, Marilyn Allen Grounds, Bernice Rubrake Powell, Terry Werschey Cross, Darlene Conner Lewis and Delores Lazzari Darak.

Retired teachers who attended were Richard Glass, Kathy Harvey Shonce, Elsie Whetzel, Gene Zorn, Dick Thompson, and Margie Brown.Also attending was retired school nurse Mary Margaret Gams Hildack. Dennis Lewis and Marilyn Allen Grounds introduced and presented the honored class of 1960.

During the roll call of classes, James Paisley gave special recognition to eight classmates who were present from the classes of 1930 through 1939. The classmates were Dorothy Conner, Robert Elmore, Jean Wolcott Lewis, Anita Nims Terry, Albert Sipka, Herbert Hewitt, Sal Johnson and Joseph Poptic Sr.

The annual drawing for the keeper of the town pump was awarded to Andrew Branik Jr. and presented by last year’s keeper, Lois Allen Scroggs.
