ABWA chapter votes to award scholarships

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association has voted to award scholarships to three area students who will be pursuing degrees at technical schools and colleges.

A renewable scholarship of $900 has again been earmarked for Brittaney Reed of Canfield, a daughter of Candace Reed. She is a junior pre-med student at Ohio State University.

Recipients of new renewable $700 scholarships will be Gina Torek, a daughter of Jane Torek of Boardman, and Robert Gross, a son of Dr. Maria Gross of Canfield.

Torek graduated from Boardman High School and will study communications this fall at John Carroll University.

Gross graduated with a 3.5 average from Canfield High School in June and will pursue a degree in multimedia at the University of Toledo.

The awards have been approved by Joyce Billock, Mary Lou McCarthy and Kathy Anderson, members of the education committee, and will be presented at the August meeting of the chapter.

ABWA chapters throughout the Valley have awarded scholarships worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to area students who pursue degrees at technical schools and colleges.

The Mill Creek Chapter meets the second Tuesday of each month. Anyone interested in attending a chapter meeting as a guest is asked to contact Judy Codespote, president, at 330-797-1488.
