YOUNGSTOWN

V&M Star and Vallourec, its parent company, will break ground at 10 a.m. today in a ceremony to officially begin construction of its $650 million expansion project.

The hot-rolling, seamless pipe mill will create 400 construction jobs.

The new mill is expected to begin production at the end of next year with full production by the end of 2012.

The plant is being built near V&M’s facility on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Gov. Ted Strickland, local and state politicians, and more than 100 V&M employees will attend the event.

Woman injured in face

YOUNGSTOWN

A woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center on Sunday night after suffering what police called a superficial facial injury from a shotgun pellet.

The incident was reported about 9:45 p.m. Sunday at Indianola and Glenwood avenues. Police are investigating.

The woman’s identity wasn’t available late Sunday.

Free concert in Salem

SALEM

Dulci-More will present a free concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Waterworth Memorial Park’s band shell.

Audience members will be encouraged to participate by making requests and by singing along.

Instruments likely to be played include mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, autoharp, guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin, fiddle, banjo-guitar and harmonica.

Seating will be on the grassy amphitheater in front of the band shell, so those attending should bring lawn chairs or blankets.

4-H Day Camp

LISBON

The 4-H Day Camp program will be July 13 – 15 at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. The camping program featuring three one-day sessions.

The camp is open to children age 6 to 12.

The theme of this year’s camp is “A Trip Back in Time.” Many related activities are planned, including a field trip to the Carnegie Natural History Museum in Pittsburgh.

There will be crafts, games and a cookout picnic on the last day of camp.

The cost is $60 per camper. There is a reduced cost for second and third campers from the same family.

Registrations should be turned in by July 6 and are available at the Ohio State University Extension Office, 7876B Lincoln Place, Lisbon, or by calling (330) 424-7291.

Fund-raising campaign

EAST PALESTINE

The East Palestine Town & Country Garden Club is spearheading a fund-raising drive to purchase Christmas decorations for the downtown area.

The garden club has made a $5,000 donation, half of what is needed. Samples of available decorations are on display on North Market Street near the railroad tracks.
