Ground broken for $650 million V&M Star project

YOUNGSTOWN

Local dignitaries and V&M Star officials celebrated the culmination of a $650 million project, more than 18 months in the making.

Groundbreaking at V&M’s new steel mill was this morning.

“We are a steel state and this is a steel country. Steel is not just a part of our history, it is our hope,” said Gov. Ted Strickland.

Girard Mayor James Melfi added: “Maybe in our Valley’s history, yesterday was the bottom and today is the date we start our climb back up.”
