Scrappers score 12 for second straight day

AUBURN, N.Y.
What hitting slump?
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers pounded out 16 hits, including three by designated hitter Kevin Rucker, and they defeated the Auburn Doubledays 12-1 in a New York-Penn League baseball game on Saturday night.
Giovhanny Urshela added a double, a a single, and four RBIs for the Scrappers, who were shut out in their first two home games of the season on Monday and Tuesday, but have rebounded to scored 12 runs in each of their last two ∫ games.
Moises Montero added a pair of singles and three RBIs for the Scrappers (4-5). Chase Burnette and Carlos Moncrief also hit doubles, while Jordan Casas and Tyler Cannon hit two singles apiece.
Owen Dew pitched four scoreless innings for the Scrappers before giving way to Casey Gaynor (1-1), who picked up the win with three innings of relief. James Ehlert finished up with two scoreless innings. Marcus Knecht, Steve McQuail and Yeico Aponte had two hits each for Auburn.
Sam Strickland (1-1) took the loss, allowing three runs in five innings.
