Officials fear New Castle man was electrocuted at plant

Police are investigating the death of a city man who may have been electrocuted.

Police were called shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday to the New Castle Refractories building, Industrial Road.

Jonathan Donofrio, 30, of the city had been found in a fenced- in area of the business, and was pronounced dead by the Lawrence County coroner’s office.

Donofrio’s girlfriend found him and contacted authorities.

The area where the body was found was a high-voltage area of the building, according to police, and it was marked with high voltage and no trespassing signs.

Several tools and a bag containing copper pieces were found at the scene.
