Nature programs planned for families

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to get a glimpse of the natural world during the Knee High Nature programs at McKeever Environmental Learning Center at 2:30 p.m. July 6.
The programs are designed for children age 2 to 5 with an adult, but siblings also are welcome to attend.
The program will focus on reptiles. Along with exploring the natural world, this program also will include a brief lesson and a craft.
Knee High Nature will meet in McKeever’s Discovery Building. A portion of this program will be indoors, and a portion will be outside, rain or shine. Dress for the weather.
There also will be a program on on butterfly gardening with native plants at 10 a.m. July 10. The life cycle of a butterfly, native plants used to attract butterflies and sample garden designs will be discussed.
The free program will include a walk through McKeever’s butterfly garden. The program begins in the outdoor Freni classroom. Follow the signs to find the classroom. For more information, go to the center’s website at www.mckeever.org.
