Liberty senior to be governor at Buckeye Boys State program

DeVante M. Hudson, son of Cerissa and Leo Hudson of Youngstown, was elected governor at the annual Buckeye Boys State program at Bowling Green State University.

Gregory Jones II, son of Lisa and Tim O’Toole of North Canton, was elected secretary of state.

The nine-day program immerses participants in the workings of city, county and state government and is conducted by the American Legion Department of Ohio.

Hudson was sponsored by American Legion Post 285, and Jones was sponsored by Post 436.

Hudson, who will be a senior at Liberty High School this fall, is involved in student government and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is a recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. He plans to attend Morehouse College to study psychology.

Jones will be a senior at Youngstown Early College this fall and is active in school and community programs. He plans to attend Youngstown State University to study business and political science.
