2 new trustees chosen at YSU

Youngstown State University has two new trustees.

Gov. Ted Strickland announced Friday that Delores Crawford of Youngstown, community affairs director at WKBN, has been named to fill a regular nine-year spot on the board of trustees, and Ryan Meditz of Canfield has been named a student trustee, a two-year term.

Crawford joined the WKBN staff in 2005 and hosts the community affairs broadcast “Sunday Morning with Dee” that airs each Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Crawford serves on numerous community committees and boards. She is vice president of the Mahoning County Library, chairman of the Community Development Committee of First National Bank of Pennsylvania and a member of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council.

She is the past human-services director of the Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services/Child Support Agency and was the minority coordinator for the Youngstown State University Center for Urban Studies.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University in 1968.

Meditz is an undergraduate student at YSU studying international marketing. He serves on the financial appropriations committee for the Youngstown State University Student Government Association and as the executive secretary of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.

He previously served as an assistant coach for the hockey team at Canfield High School and a counselor at Ohio Buckeye Boys State. He is expected to graduate in 2013.
