Softball tournament to help cancer charity

AUSTINTOWN

A Way With Words Foundation, Inc., is sponsoring a charity softball tournament, “Saving Second Base,” on Aug. 29 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

Proceeds will benefit A Way With Words, a local charity, and local breast cancer programs for early detection and treatment.

The cost to participate is $225 per team (maximum 13 players) or $20 per person. Random draw, 15 and older Slow Pitch, Double Elimination. Children under 15 will play in the youth game. The fee includes a T-shirt and tickets for raffle prizes.

Registration will be at 9 a.m., and games will begin at 10.

Concession stands and a pavilion for picnic lunches will be available. No alcohol is permitted on park grounds.
