Legendary Christian band plays at Boardman church

A legendary Christian music group delivered messages of hope during a concert June 17 at a Boardman church.

Bridge of Hope Church, 7580 Glenwood Ave., hosted a Classic Imperials concert for church members and friends. A portion of the proceeds were donated to Operation Homefront, for deployed service members, and a church member who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant.

The Imperials originally formed in 1963 recording their first album in 1964. They have been through several member changes over the decades which has led to the current group.

Youngstown’s Beulah Eastman said she was a huge fan of the Imperials in the 1970s. She brought along her friend to the concert and was happy the group visited Boardman.

“We were great fans of the Imperials in the 1970s,” Eastman said. “With the Classic Imperials this close, you can’t pass it up.”
