Third- and fourth-grade students were honored at Hilltop Elementary School’s annual third and fourth-grade awards Assembly June 9.

Cathy Mowry, principal of Hilltop, served as master of ceremonies.

“I am so very proud of each and every one of you. You have grown as individuals throughout this school year,” Mowry said.

Mowry then asked the students to give themselves a big pat on the back for all their accomplishments this year.

Mowry started with the third-grade awards. Award categories included: handwriting; perfect attendance with the exception of missing a half day, one day or two days; perfect attendance and earning all A’s and B’s on report cards throughout the year.

Each student was called to the front of the auditorium and was presented with a certificate of recognition by their teacher.

Before presenting the fourth-graders their awards, Mowry said the students had created a year of memories for both themselves and the school staff.

Fourth-grade awards also included the above categories.

The fourth-grade Spelling Bee participants and place winners were also recognized, along with the fourth-grade Math Bee finalists and place winners.

Mowry then called each third-grade and fourth-grade student who had earned all A’s throughout the year on their report cards to the front of the auditorium to receive a certificate from their teachers.

Dolores Saunders, Hilltop Elementary gym teacher, awarded certificates of participation to the students who raised funds for the Jump Rope For Heart program.

The students were recognized for giving back to the community.

To close the program, Mowry asked the students to give a big cheer for their third- and fourth-grade teachers. The students responded with a resounding “Hip, hip, hooray!” for the teachers.

At that point, Mowry gave the students a parting thought.

“Own your dream,” she said. “Own your dream.”
