Golf outing benefits Canfield cancer patient

The Boardman Poland Junior Women’s League will sponsor a golf scramble July 10 at Bedford Trails Golf Course with proceeds to benefit Garrett Schenker, a 16-year-old sophomore at Canfield High School, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in February.
He is currently being treated with an intense chemotherapy regimen at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron where he receives 24 hours of steady chemotherapy for six days each visit. He also receives two spinal taps with each treatment.
The four-person scramble format is limited to the first 38 registered teams by Thursday. The cost is $75 per player. The event includes 18 holes of golf and a cart. Breakfast, lunch and a steak dinner will be provided.
All players have a chance to win a two-year lease on a Chevrolet Malibu, donated by Stadium Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac. For information, registration or to make a donation, contact Lynn Mickey at 330-770-5871.
