Canfield Community Band to perform free concerts

Neighbors | Submitted.The Canfield Communtiy Band, under the direction of Anthony Cebriak, will present a series of free outdoor shows throughout the summer. .The band is made up of members of the community that volunteer their talent and time to entertain area residents.

The Canfield Community Concert Band, under the direction of Anthony Cebriak, will present a series of free outdoor summer concerts throughout the area.

Upcoming concerts include June 28 on the Green in Canfield; June 29 at Austintown Township Park; July 4 at Firestone Park in Columbiana; and July 13 at Shepherd of the Valley on Western Reserve Road in Poland.

All concerts begin at 7 p.m.

The band will play a variety of popular songs and marches celebrating patriotic themes. Performances will feature a medley of well-known gospel songs, Latin rhythms and old-time favorites.

The program will include highlights from the Broadway show “Jersey Boys” with “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Rag Doll,” and “Pop Culture” with some of the most recognizable tunes of our day including “Wipe Out,” “The Pink Panther,” and “Peter Gunn.” The “Armed Forces Salute” will round out the program as the band pays tribute to past veterans and current members of the Armed Forces.

Founded in 1976, the Canfield Community Band has grown from 12 players to a concert band averaging 52 members who volunteer their time and talents to bring musical entertainment to area residents. Band members represent a wide range of ages and occupations and come from a four-county area.

The band rehearses on Tuesday evenings and is open to anyone that plays a band instrument. The Canfield Community Concert Band performs an average of 15 concerts a year at outdoor parks and nursing homes with two formal concerts held each year at Canfield High School.
