A Maple Drive man was in the Mahoning County jail late Thursday, accused of shooting his wife.

Christian Jaeger, 55, is charged with felonious assault and domestic violence.

Jaeger initially told police that he was in his basement shooting a rifle at the wall about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday when a bullet ricocheted off the wall and struck his wife in the back of the shoulder.

Andrea Jaeger, 43, was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center. She also relayed different versions of how she got shot including that Jaeger was cleaning the gun and that a bullet ricocheted off the wall. Eventually, Jaeger told police he fired the rifle at his wife but said he didn’t intend to hurt her.

A couple has been charged with homicide in the death of their 2-month-old son who authorities say wasn’t fed enough and was left outside in near freezing temperatures when he had trouble breathing.

Michael Rabold, 24, and Royanne Darr, 22, were arrested Wednesday and also charged with endangering the welfare of children for failing to feed their 15-month-old son. The couple also have a son who is just over 2 years old. Authorities say 2-month-old Isaac Rabold died of malnutrition Jan. 17. The boy had been born premature.
