Storms that passed through the city Wednesday afternoon blew down trees and wires in several locations, the fire department reported.

A tree fell on a house at 889 W. Wilson St., and one also fell on a house at 1683 Southeast Blvd., the department said.

Wires were down at 1850 Southeast Blvd., and trees in the street near 1300 E. Third St. had to be removed by the street department.

At 1799 South Lincoln St., tree limbs fell and pulled wires and a meter from the house, the department said.

The first calls came in at 4:45 p.m., the department said. No injuries were reported.

Drug charges

Police arrested Christopher E. Staten, 20, of Selma Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of drug abuse and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop around 9:30 p.m. Monday on Colonial Drive.

Police found three pieces of suspected crack cocaine. He was arraigned Tuesday in Girard Municipal Court, then released on $20,000 bond. His pre-trial hearing will be June 30. A passenger, Derrick L. Lockett, 20, of the 1800 block of Cordova Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on warrants from Youngstown and was turned over to that department.
