Power largely restored after western Pa. storms

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Power has been largely restored to customers in western Pennsylvania after strong thunderstorms swept through the region, toppling trees and bringing down wires.

Duquesne Light reports about 1,500 customers were without service as of about 6 a.m. Thursday. That’s down from a peak of about 10,000 Wednesday night after storms brought strong winds and flooding to the Pittsburgh area.

Allegheny Power reported about 1,200 customers without power in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. More than 13,000 customers were without power in Pennsylvania following the storms.
