POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

June 21

Theft: A man in the 100 block of East Broadway Avenue discovered clothing and two pets missing from his residence.

Theft: An East Broadway Avenue woman reported the theft of about 40 Xanex tablets, $600, an Ohio Lottery ticket and a food-stamp card.

Criminal damaging: Police checked property off Tibbetts-Wick Road and noticed damage to a shed’s door that someone had apparently kicked repeatedly.

Burglary: Someone entered a home in the 100 block of West Second Street and took a purse, jewelry, a digital camera and other items, for a $2,995 loss.

Assault: A South Randolph Street woman reported two people ripped her shirt and struck her face during an argument. Police said they saw red marks, as well as wounds to her forehead.

Criminal mischief: A woman arrived at an East Liberty Street business and found the parking lot had been deliberately lined with roofing nails.

Theft: A $500 camcorder was taken from a residence in the 300 block of Indiana Avenue.

Burglary: To a home in the 200 block of Louis Circle, from which three flat-screen TVs were stolen.

June 22

Vandalism: Eggs were tossed at a truck in the 300 block of Idaho Street.

Vandalism: Someone struck a garage door on Summit Street, knocking the door panel off its framework.

June 23

Vandalism: William K. Peterson, no city or age listed, faced a felony charge after police said he damaged a toilet enclosure and a hand rail in his holding cell.

HUBBARD

June 17

Bad check: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant against Michael Kohn, no information provided, accusing him of failure to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing. The original charge was passing a bad check.

Theft: A Hillview Drive woman accused her daughter-in-law of stealing her debit card and buying $500 worth of gift cards.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s window was smashed in the 200 block of Hager Street.

Theft: A Rebecca Avenue woman reported a diamond ring stolen.

June 18

Arrest: Girard police had custody of Randy McCale, no information given, who was at the Trumbull County Jail and wanted by Hubbard authorities on a charge of failing to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing.

Fraud: A West Liberty Street woman found out someone had removed funds via electronic means from her credit-union account.

Assault: Police detained a 19-year-old woman after having responded to a fight in the 600 block of East Liberty Street.

June 20

Theft: A man reported the theft of a desk he had bought at Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave.

Drug paraphernalia: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant against Amber M. Shollenberger, no age or address listed, accused of failing to appear for a pretrial hearing and a summons charging her with possession of drug paraphernalia.

LIBERTY

June 18

Recovered property: Police found a 1999 Oldsmobile a man had reported stolen at a Belmont Avenue motel.

Theft: A $500 laptop computer was removed from an apartment in the 4000 block of Monticello Boulevard.

June 19

Menacing: A Euclid Boulevard woman told police her former boyfriend stalked her and pounded on her door.

Arrest: Police watched a suspicious vehicle in the 2800 block of Belmont Avenue, then took into custody 33-year-old Robert L. Armstrong, 608 Oak Knoll Drive S.E., Warren. Armstrong was wanted on a warrant charging him with violating conditions of his probation.

Theft: A mailbox was removed from a residence in the 3400 block of Logan Way.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 400 block of Liberty Street, where a $1,500 gold ring and eight men’s suits were stolen.

Theft: A charge was pending against a Youngstown woman, 34, after a Bluetooth headset and a DVD were stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Theft: Harvey Marlowe, 55, of 954 Bonnie Brae Ave., Youngstown, was charged with stealing shower gel and body-wash products from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave. He also was wanted on a warrant from Mahoning County.

Arrests: While investigating suspicious activity on Dade Avenue, officers charged 20-year-old Joshua A. Butler, 1510 Parkwood Drive, Hermitage, Pa., with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after saying he led them on a foot pursuit. Sean M. Perry, 19, of 8042 Bedford Road, Hubbard, faced one misdemeanor count of obstructing justice when, authorities said, he assisted Butler during the chase.

June 20

Menacing: A Euclid Boulevard woman said a Boardman woman, 28, repeatedly called the accuser and threatened to harm a family member.

Menacing: A man driving on Tuttle Lane reported another man threatened to beat him up.

Arrest: Youngstown State University police handed 41-year-old Derrick G. McIntosh, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, to township authorities. He was wanted on a warrant.

June 21

Drugs: After pulling over a vehicle near Goleta Avenue, police charged 20-year-old Christopher Staten, 1870 Selma Ave., Youngstown, with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia when, they said, he had a bag of suspected crack cocaine and narcotics. Also arrested was Derrick L. Lockett, 20, of 1846 Cordova Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant from the city.

Harassment: A worker for a Belmont Avenue restaurant said her former boyfriend continually called to harass her.

Harassment: A Madison Road woman and her mother reported receiving a series of hang-up and derogatory calls.

Arson: Police assisted firefighters at a house fire in the 100 block of Euclid Boulevard. The homeowner accused a Girard man with whom he has ongoing problems of causing the blaze.

June 22

Possible arson: Liberty firefighters responded to a large brush fire near Trumbull Avenue, and witnesses said they saw a large, dark truck speeding away from the area. The township arson investigator felt the fire had been intentionally set, a police report said.

Assault: Officers charged 34-year-old Frank A. Myers and Shireece D. Potter, 35, both of 3016 North Gate Road, Liberty, after a neighbor alleged the two had assaulted her as part of an ongoing dispute. The accuser suffered cuts and scrapes to her face.
