No bail for Dallas man accused of Obama threat

DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas man accused of threatening to kill President Barack Obama has been denied bail.

U.S. Magistrate Jeff Kaplan ruled Wednesday that 43-year-old Brian Dean Miller must remain in custody because he is a danger to the community.

Miller is charged with one count of making threats against the president.

A posting titled “Obama must die” appeared on a Craigslist site on March 21, the night Congress passed a health care overhaul bill. The posting said Miller was following through on a vow to become a terrorist if the federal health care bill was approved.

Miller was tracked down via his e-mail address. He was living with his mother.

His trial is expected in July. If convicted, Miller could be imprisoned for up to five years and fined up to $250,000.
